What No Eye Has Seen And No Ear Has Heard
King David had and immense desire to build a house to the Lord and to do so had been prepared (1Chr. 28:2). However, The Lord would not let him because he was a man of war (V. 3). I guess it was not an easy time, but God tells him that his son Solomon would build His house (V. 6). King David then shared with the future king three things: he gives him the model of the temple, the more expensive materials for utensils and encouragement and instructions on how to get help for the building of it.
With respect to the planes of the temple, here you could fine the design, the courts with their outdoor rooms, the work of the priests and Levites and the items that should be used for decoration. In addition, he gives instructions regarding how much gold and silver to be used to make the articles of the temple. The list was specific and at the end tells him that everything had been traced by the hand of God (1 Chr. 28: 11-19).
When Moses met with the Lord for 40 days and 40 nights on Mount Sinai, apart from receiving the 10 commandments, God have him the design of the Tabernacle. And we wonder how David received the information? This can be the Key that we are seeking from God to receive an artistic revelation, as both the biblical and historical account tell us that the temple built by Solomon was very beautiful.
In verse 12, King David gave Solomon, “the pattern of all the things that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the Lord…” The Hebrew word for “will” in this verse is ruwach, translated as spirit. Another translation of the same verse tells us that he gave the design “of all the things that had received by the spirit”. This is expanded in verse 19 when he says “it was all in a letter written by revelation from the Lord to David”, or “was written under the direction of the Lord”. No matter which translation we read, we understand that there was a communication from the spirit of King David with the Spirit of God.
We have greater access to the Spirit of God than the one King David had. It says in 1 Corinthians 2: 9-10 which “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love him, these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God”. And I´m sure that as you read these verses you have not thought that these “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” includes a new art, prophetic and transformative to create an impact on the 21 century society. As Christian artists we love our God, therefore, the revelation that God “hath prepared for those how love him” is ours. Reclaim the promise.
